Toddler Marble Run

Ball Construction Track for Toddlers

Sale Price : $99.99
Details

This 30-piece ball track is a wondrous introduction to marble run building for little sweetpeas as young as 18 months. It is bright and colorful, making the perfect link between early stacking skills and free building. What a boost of self-confidence when little-one has made a track themselves and then lets go of a ball, sending it down the track. That is serious cause and effect!

Crafted with the littlest builders in mind, it has pegs on the connecting blocks providing more reinforcement than other building sets. This ensures the track stays in place, even if siblings, parents or the dog bump against it.

This award-winning set is made in Germany. It's compatible with all HABA building systems, meaning it can be integrated into the family construction toys for years. Like all HABA wooden toys, this is heirloom quality, made of beech wood from sustainable forests, meant to last through generations.

Developmental Value

This type of construction toy is one of our favorite for its developmental value. The benefits are deep across so many different levels and the benefits happen instantly and simultaneously. Construction is self-correcting so no instruction is necessary, providing experience with self-learning.

STEM: Children learn to build structures. They gain a better understanding of physics and how things work together. Building successfully requires consideration of gravity, weight, balance, and stability. They learn and practice math skills by grouping, adding, subtracting, matching and sequencing. Other skills involve modular reasoning, building, perspective and creative reasoning. They also encounter cause and effect and engage problem-solving, classification and critical thinking skills.

Imagination: Children design things based on their own creative ideas. They are likely to learn as the construction grows and continue to add in complexity. The finishing touches are often visual flourishes or unexpected engineering.

Physical: Clutching, handling, manipulating all lead to strength in fingers and hands and a strong development in eye-hand coordination

Social: Marble runs are a great teamwork exercise, offering opportunities to work together, share, discuss and solve problems, give and take ideas, and improve social relationships.

Language: Children must reach for richer communication skills as they discuss the size, shape, colors, comparisons, building successes or failures and other aspects of construction.
